2007 New Designer Fashion Grand Prix
We would like to invite your students to apply to the 2007 New Designer Fashion Grand Prix, a major international fashion contest in Japan to be held in Tokyo in September of this year.The New Designer Fashion Grand Prix was established in 1984 by Onward Kashiyama Co., Ltd., Japan's largest apparel company, with a goal of cultivating and supporting new designers who will play a leading role in the coming era. Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry has provided support since 2004, and the contest is sponsored by the Fashion Strategy Forum (URLrwww.jfw.jp), a public organization, as part of Japan Fashion Week (JFW).Following application with design drawings, a pre-selection will be carried out, and designers who pass the pre-selection will produce an actual creation (with a grant of 50,000 yen), and compete at the final selection in a public show format.Offices accepting applications are located in Tokyo, New York, London, Milan, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Seoul, and last year, there were approximately 14,000 applicants from 35 countries around the world.We believe that this contest will be of value to your students' futures. ® Contestants chosen at the pre-selection will be invited to the final selection held in Japan, and introduced to the Tokyo fashion market. ® The winners of the one Grand Prix, two Prizes for Excellence, and five Workmanship Prizes will be awarded prize money, and profiles of these prizewinners and their creations will be presented in the Japanese media. (D Winners of the Grand Prix and Prizes for Excellence will also be provided with an exhibition booth at a Japanese exhibition for rising designers.
